A North Dakota 4-H judging team has placed in a national competition.

The Adams County 4-H Senior Livestock Judging Team placed 18th overall at the recent North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Ky.

The team, which competed against 33 other teams, also placed 10th in the sheep and goats division and 12th in the beef division Nov. 16.

Two team members received individual recognition as well. Nick Germann of Rhame placed sixth in the sheep and goats division and received a ribbon and plaque. He also was named 11th high overall individual out of 131 contestants and an All-American, which means he was one of the top 20 individuals in the competition. He received a belt buckle for being an All-American.

Alix Pearson of Hettinger placed ninth in the beef division and received a ribbon and plaque.

Other members of the team are Nicole Johnson of Hettinger and Mariah Brooks of Bowman. Alternates on the team were Hannah Nordby of Amidon and Ben Pearson of Hettinger.

During the competition, the team judged 11 classes, gave four sets of reasons for their judging decisions and participated in two question classes.

The team took first place at the North Dakota 4-H livestock judging competition March 6 in Valley City to advance to the contest in Louisville.
