Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop Set for Feb. 18-19 in Fargo

The Advanced Crop Advisers Workshop is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, Feb. 18-19, at the Holiday Inn in Fargo.

The workshop is designed to provide in-depth discussion of selected topics for agricultural professionals who advise farmers with crop production recommendations. The event is organized and conducted by the North Dakota State University and University of Minnesota Extension Services.

On Feb. 18, educational sessions will include:

• Field diagnosis: The truth is out there somewhere
• A different look at spray application
• Beyond nitrogen and phosphorus: soil testing, crop response and future needs of the other plant nutrients
• Dealing with glyphosate-resistance issues
• North-central U.S. challenges and tools to profitably improve soybean yields
• Crop protection “rap” session

On Feb. 19, educational sessions will include:

• Precision agriculture today
• Nonconventional nitrogen fertilizers and additives to increase crop uptake efficiency
• Managing soybean diseases: Drop back and punt?
• Tile drainage: Making the decision on if or when

Certified crop advisers attending the workshop will have the opportunity to receive nine continuing education units.

Preregistration is requested and the workshop fee is $140 if received by Feb. 15 or $75 if attending one day (late registration fees are $175 or $100 for one day).
