N.D. Dairy Convention Set for Nov. 11-12

“Sustaining Farm and Family” is the theme of the 43rd annual North Dakota Dairy Convention.

The convention will be Nov. 11-12 at the Best Western Seven Seas Inn in Mandan.

It will include sessions on enhancing dairy herd immunity, new technology, dairy markets, dairy-related legislation and the health of the dairy industry; a trade show; a silent auction; and presentation of the Milky Way Award, Merit Award and Ag Commissioner’s Award of Dairy Excellence.

“This convention will help dairy producers develop strategies for responding to changes in the dairy industry, improving the efficiency of their operation, and helping their families and employees cope with the stresses of the volatile economy,” says J.W. Schroeder, North Dakota State University Extension Service dairy specialist and a conference organizer. The NDSU Extension Service is a convention sponsor.

“The highlight of the event is the awards banquet, and you don’t want to miss dairy farm wife and humorist Corrine Lieser from Belgrade, Minn.,” Schroeder says. “She will take us on the lighter side of farming even in these difficult times.”

The North Dakota Dairy Coalition and Milk Producers of North Dakota also will hold meetings during the convention.

Speakers for the convention include Doug Goehring, North Dakota agriculture commissioner; Bob Bertsch, NDSU Web technology specialist; Randi Schaeffer, Medcenter One, Bismarck; Ken McMahon, Associated Milk Producers Inc.; Randy McGinnis, Dairy Farmers of America; Gerald Stokka, Pfizer Animal Health; and Karissa Brobst, Mark and Kristy Doll, Andrew Holle and Rita Mosset, North Dakota dairy producers.

Register at the door. The cost is $27 per person, which includes four meals, snacks, the trade show, printed conference proceedings and the educational sessions.
