Fargo Ram Sale Set For Aug. 2

This year’s Fargo ram sale will be Aug. 2 at NDSU.

The 2008 Fargo ram sale will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, in North Dakota State University’s Shepperd Arena.

The NDSU Extension Service and North Dakota Lamb and Wool Producers Association are sponsoring the sale.

This year’s event will begin with educational presentations at 10:30 a.m. Justin Luther, NDSU Extension sheep specialist, will discuss breeding ewe lambs and ram management for better fertility and longevity.

The sale begins at 1:30 p.m.

Forty purebred ewe lambs and 35 purebred ram lambs and yearlings will be available. Breeds that will be sold include Hampshire, Suffolk, Dorset, Rambouillet, Columbia, Montedale and Corriedale.

All rams will test RR at codon 171 and ewe lambs will be QR or RR at codon 171.

“The sale will be an excellent opportunity for producers to add high-quality animals to their flock,” Luther says.

For more information, contact Luther at (701) 231-7993 or (701) 212-8385; Lyle Warner, North Dakota Lamb and Wool Producers Association president, at (701) 255-1183 or (701) 220-1203; or Wyman Scheetz, association vice president, at (701) 220-4639.
