Tax Program for Farmers Scheduled for Nov. 27

A Tax Management for Ag Producers program will be offered to producers and tax preparers at 11 interactive video sites.

A Tax Management for Ag Producers program will be offered to producers and tax preparers from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 11 interactive video sites in North Dakota.

The program, sponsored by the North Dakota State University Extension Service and Internal Revenue Service, will feature presentations by Ann Makres, IRS; Steve Eckroth, Eide Bailly, Bismarck; Brenda Laub, CPA, Valley City; Steve Troyer, Eide Bailly, Fargo; Terry Knoepfle, Department of Accounting and Information Systems, NDSU, Fargo; Curtis Volesky, North Dakota Department of Human Resources, Bismarck; and Joseph Becker, North Dakota Office of State Tax Commissioner, Bismarck.

Experts will provide tax updates and discuss work opportunity credits, health savings accounts and charitable giving. Other topics include:

  • Income averaging for capital gains tax strategies
  • North Dakota property tax relief and credits for charitable deductions
  • IRS issues, such as the kiddie tax, changes in form 8332 and audit priorities
  • Medicaid issues, such as the tax implications of Medicaid transfer of farm real estate

Four question-and-answer periods are scheduled during the three-hour program. Preregistration is required because seating is limited. The cost for the program and materials is $12.

Interactive video sites for the program are at Bismarck State College, Bismarck; Lake Region State College, Devils Lake; Arntzen Building, Minot State University, Bottineau; Dickinson State University, Dickinson; NDSU, Fargo; UND, Grand Forks; State Hospital, Jamestown; North Dakota State College of Science, Wahpeton; Cavalier County Courthouse, Langdon; and NDSU Research Extension Centers in Minot and Williston.
