N.D. State Fair 4-H Horse Show Winners Named

4-H'ers win horse show awards at the North Dakota State Fair.

The following 4-H members won awards in the horse show July 23-25 at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot. Winners are listed below by county, name, hometown, age division, class and placing.

Barnes

  • Layne Larson, Marion, 12- to 14-year-old division - champion Western Horsemanship, tie for Champion Trail, Amanda Ebensteiner Memorial Award - presented annually to the 4-H Western Horsemanship champion in the 12- to 14-year-old division at the North Dakota State Fair. A member of the Ramsey Riders 4-H Club in Devils Lake, Ebensteiner’s first love was horses. She died of cancer in 1997.

  • Janna Rice, Maddock, 12- to 14-year-old division - champion Western Riding
  • Katie Rice, Maddock, 8- to 11-year-old division - champion Western Riding, reserve champion Hunt Seat Equitation, champion Western Horsemanship, 2nd place High Point Individual

Bottineau

  • Christin Nelson, Bottineau, 15- to 18-year-old division - reserve champion Western Horsemanship, 2nd place High Point Individual

  • Christine Chase, Hazen, 12- to 14-year-old division - champion Hunter Hack, reserve champion Reining, reserve champion Hunt Seat Equitation, reserve champion Showmanship at Halter, reserve champion Western Horsemanship, tie for champion Trail, 1st place High Point Individual
  • Judah Coleman, Bismarck, 15- to 18-year-old division - champion Equitation Over Fences
