4-H’ers Compete in Senior Consumer Choices Contest at N.D. State Fair

North Dakota 4-H’ers place in the senior Consumer Choices competition at the State Fair.

Teenagers from across North Dakota competed in the senior division of the 4-H Consumer Choices contest Tuesday, July 22, at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.

The 4-H’ers ranked classes of backpacks, gift cards and fast food on certain qualities and gave reasons for their rankings. The top teams were:

  • First place - Cass County - team members: Nicole Bruse, Andrea Clarens, Laura Clarens, Kendra Krueger and Christina Lammers
  • Second place - Grant, Ward, Stark and Billings multicounty team - team members: Kalyssa Leithold and Mari Ann Leithold, both of Grant County; Jamie Hetzel and Anna Friedt, both of Stark County; and Katie Finken, Ward County
  • Third place - Walsh County - team members: Megan Ternquist, Anna Ramsey, Bill Klose, Danielle Ruzicka and Breanna Novak
  • Fourth place - Burke, Divide and Ramsey multicounty team - team members: Elizabeth Anderson, Burke County; Marissa Ekness, Divide County; and Abby Nienhuis and Molly Nienhuis, both of Ramsey County
  • Fifth place - Burleigh County - team members: Sarah Elder, Katie Johanson and Kelsey Rogstad

The top 15 teen individuals are:

  • Andrea Clarens, Cass, first
  • Anna Ramsey, Walsh, second
  • Anna Friedt, Stark, third
  • Elizabeth Anderson, Burke, fourth
  • Rachael Lagein, Towner, fifth
  • Tia Klein, Cavalier, sixth
  • Katie Wold, McKenzie, seventh
  • Laura Clarens, Cass, eighth
  • Sarah Elder, Burleigh, ninth
  • Kaci Lemler, Grand Fork, 10th
  • Jodi Boe, Mercer, 11th
  • Megan Ternquist, Walsh, 12th
  • Sophie Miller, Stutsman, 13th
  • Becca O’Toole, Pembina, 14th
  • Kendra Krueger, Cass, 15th
