NORTH DAKOTA EXTENSION HOHE ECONOMIST ASSOCIATION MEETING
4-H CONFERENCE CENTER October 15, 1980
The fall business meeting of the NDEHEA was called to order by President Carol Sellie. The following home economist were present: Julie Albrecht, Grace Backman, Joleen Bates, Kelly Bergo, Helen Dahl, Bonita Dockter, Ellen Dunlop, Sharyl Eastgate, Sharon Kickertz-Gerbig, Maxine Frank, Gail Gunderson, Anne Green, Eunice Hauck, Linda Hauge, Judi Hornseth, Julie Hudson, Lynette Hance, Katherine Iverson, Beth Johnson, June Kraft, Marilyn Lesmeister, Pat Machart, Mary Matteson, Peggy Morse, Linda Narum, Tessa Nesheim, Laurel Olson, Anita Rohde, Carol Sellie, Margaret Tweten and Connie weed.
The treasurer's report presented by Marilyn Lesmeister was approved as printed. Mary Matteson gave the secretary's report and also correspondence from Brenda Langerud, and Pat Aune.
Committee chairpersons presented their reports which are attached to these minutes.
Bills were submitted to the treasurer for cards, Career Clue-In, gift for Brenda Langerud, flowers and candles.
A money schedule was discussed for the gift committee and it was decided to leave it at its present plan.
Gail Gunderson explained the proposed changes in the constitution. A motion was made by Gail Gunderson, seconded by Ellen Dunlop to accept the revision. Motion passed.
Ellen Dunlop suggested that a State Media Award program for Home Economists, similar to the County Agents Association be developed. Motion made by Julie Albrecht, seconded by Sharon Gerbig, motion passed.
Gail Gunderson will serve on the April Conference planning committee. Helen Dahl will serve on the October Extension Conference Planning committee.
Julie Hudson asked if our association would like to be a tri-sponsor of the 4-H Distinguished Service Award. Motion carried.
Sharyl Eastgate informed members that the North Dakota Home Economics Association will hold its annual meeting in Bismarck, October 2-4, 1981.
Marilyn Lesmeister made a motion to purchase stationery for the association. Julie Hudson seconded the motion. Motion carried.
National Meeting 1980: Ellen Dunlop, Judi Hornseth, Katherine Iverson, Maxine Frank and Carol Sellie.
Next year's national meeting dates are October 11-16 in Las Vegas.
Members were reminded to pay their dues.

Day To Ourselves program was a success throughout each district and should be continued.
Constitution was revised and copies sent to each voting member prior to the meeting.

Would like to promote a State Newsletter and State Column Award.
Pleased to have Anne Green speak to us on Professionalism, a part of our public relations image.
Do promote home economics in school career days as possible - AGNET job search may be considered also.
Public Affairs - Anita Rohde, Chairperson
A resolution received from NAEHE concerning the preparation of citizens for leadership and participation in public affairs was presented to the NDAEHE for a vote and passed.
A survey will be sent to Extension Home Economics late this year. Home Economists will be asked to share briefly, ideas they or their clubs have used in public affairs. This idea exchange will be put into some form of loan program for use by Homemakers and Home Economists and 4-H people.
A discussion was held concerning sponsoring a State Homemaker's Tour to Bismarck during the legislative session (late January).
An education program beginning in evening and lasting through the next day is proposed. An overview of the legislature, attending the legislative, meetings, Heritage Center, and Governor's Mansion are some of the ideas proposed. The association decided to hold the tour.

The committee achieved both objectives established by the National Association. National Association
- 100% membership at the State and National levels.
- Development of a career information packet/program.
