Family Funeral Plots (North Dakota Law)

According to the North Dakota State Department of Health, family funeral plots are legal if they are a registered cemetery. This means a person must have the land surveyed by a land surveyor registered in the state, the plot filed with the county recorder, and registration as a family funeral plot in the state of North Dakota.

Contact the office of the state health officer in Bismarck at (701) 328-2372 to obtain the application form to register a family funeral plot or for additional information.
