Communication Arts Categories & Guidelines
- Recommend using own creativity and originality in preparing public presentations.
- Youth are encouraged not to use presentations that have been used in previously judged competitions.
Project Expo - An Educational Table Top Display

- What You Should Do:
- Select a topic directly related to a 4-H project.
- You must be currently enrolled in this project.
- Use posters and examples to illustrate.
- Must fit on a 36" or less card table (except table covering) or be placed on the floor. You must bring your own card table.
- Be prepared to answer questions from the judges.
- This is NOT a science fair so do not prepare a five minute presentation. An expo checklist for creating your display is available along with an evaluation form.
Divisions:
- Cloverbud: 5-7 years old - ONLY eligible for Speech Recitation category and the Non-Competitive Demonstration/Illustrated Talk category as well as Cloverbud (non-competitive) Expo.
- PreTeen: 12 & under as of September 1, 2011
- Teen: 13 & over as of September 1, 2011
Awards
- Everyone will receive a ribbon award.
- Winners will be named in each speech & demonstration category and will go on to compete in the District Communication Arts Contest in June in Fargo.
- Expo will name three preteen and three teen winners to participate in the State 4-H Expo contest at the North Dakota State Fair in July.
