- March 10, 2009 - Making Meetings Work -
Mandan Fire
Hall, 110 Collins Ave. This seminar sponsored by the
ND League of Cities is designed to help make meetings more
effective for those participating on boards, councils and
committees. The cost if $75 and a registration
brochure is

- March 31 - Donna Beegle speaks at Fargo Radisson Hotel -
Dr. Donna Beegle will discuss poverty at the Fargo Radisson
hotel on March 31st. She is the only member of her
family that has not been incarcerated and after growing up
in generational poverty, she was able to get out, get an
education and change her life. Horizons communities
are invited to hear this national speaker and can
register and learn

- April 16 - Profit from the Prairie Tourism Conference -
The 3rd annual Profit from the Prairie Tourism Conference
will be held on April 16, 2009 at the Red Willow Bible Camp
near Binford, ND. There is a great conference planned
that will help communities and individuals develop tour
packages for their communities and regions. There will
be discussions about the new tourism opportunities that
North Dakota can and should be developing to bring more
economic wealth to communities. A
registration brochure and
poster are linked here. If you are a current or
past Horizons community, we will cover the registration
costs for up to 6 people from your town. Please

if you would like to use these registration dollars.
- May 8, 2009 - Maximum Impact Simulcast -
Leadership That
Inspires is the title of this year's Maximum Impact
Simulcast. The satellite event will be held at the
Arno Gustin Hall, University of Mary, 7500 University Drive
in Bismarck. This one day leadership training program
is broadcast over satellite to over 500 sites throughout
North America. It is a great event and this year
features speakers such as John Maxwell, Tony Blair, Jack
Nicklaus and Liz Murray. More information about the

North Dakota Horizons will cover the costs for up to 6
people from a community to attend (current and alumni
Horizons communities) as well as mileage for up to 2

May 27, 2009 - Recovery & Reinvestment Workshop -
Ramkota Hotel, Bismarck from 10-2:30 PM with registration
beginning at 9:30 am. Discover how the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Stimulus) can assist you and
your strategic plan for the development and growth of your
community. Horizons will pay mileage for 2 vehicles
from each current and past Horizons community. Please

Steele County Museum in Hope, ND. Fees per person $30 -
excluding Oscar Zero sit visit or $40 - including Oscar Zero

September 20, 2009 - Small Town Success Summit. Lake
Region State College in Devils Lake. Keynote speaker - Jeb
Enck with presentation titled "Change is in the Wind".
Various round table discussions on housing, social media,
stimulus funding, wind development, women in green and
non-traditional jobs and play the Futures Game.Cost is $15
which Horizons will pay for. Please indicate you are

Dynamics Workshops - Lake Region State College in Devils
Lake. Total Communications - 8:30 - 11:30 am and

could be funded through grants? Would you like to develop
the skills necessary to write successful grant
proposals? This seminar will be taught by Dr. Lynette
Krenelka who has extensive experience in administration,
teaching, consulting, and participating in the grantsmanship
process. As you know, obtaining funding for special
projects and programs is becoming more and more difficult.
Having the cutting edge skills required for successful grant
procurement is necessary. Space is limited so please RSVP
