Lionel Olson
My primary responsibilities are in the area of cropping systems. Educational programming includes
disease management, variety selection, fertility issues, weed control issues, basically any area related to production agriculture. I am currently working on my Masters of Science degree in plant pathology at NDSU. My research project is dry edible bean rust, Uromyces appendiculatus, working with Dr. Sam Markell, NDSU Extension Plant Pathologist.
I conduct the Grand Forks County private applicator training, as well as, oversee the GFC small grain, soybean, and corn variety trials.
I work closely with the Grand Forks County Crop Improvement Association and foundation seed increase program.
I am Co-Show Manager of the International Crops Expo (ICE) and a member of the Small Grains Institute. I also work with youth and adult volunteers in the 4-H program as a state 4-H Archery Trainer and a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) instructor.
