Miscellaneous

  • The current NDSU Extension Service "nondiscriminatory" clause must be on each newsletter, on publications produced by this organization and on fliers advertising FNP programs.  Radio, television and newspaper program announcements should indicate that the program is available on a nondiscriminatory basis.
    • The nondiscriminatory clause is: In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex,  age, religion, political beliefs or disability.
    • To file a complaint of discrimination, write USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, 1400 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington, DC 20250-9410 or call (800) 795-3272 (voice) or (202) 720-6382 (TTY).  This institution is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
  • All materials must also include the following statement: Funded by USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
  • For the personal protection of FNP Nutrition Education Assistants/Agents, program customers should not be transported in the personal automobiles of FNP personnel while on the job.  Exceptions to this policy require the approval of the county chair/unit administrator or Extension Agent, Family and Consumer Science, and should include one-time only trips.
  • A FNP name badge and name plate will be provided upon hiring.  The first set of enclosures and business cards for each employee are also provided by the state. Future orders will be the responsibility of the FNP county operating budget.
  • FNP employees should follow the policies of the local Extension office regarding storm day procedures.
  • Employees working in more than one county will have an official duty station (generally the nearest Extension office). If employees are not required to physically report to their official duty station prior to departing on sanctioned travel, mileage reimbursement will be computed from the employee’s official duty station or the employee’s residence, whichever is less.  In addition, no mileage reimbursement can be claimed for travel between the employee’s residence and the employee’s official duty station.
  • Travel Authorization (This information was received from the Ag Budget Office.)
    • If you are driving a state car to a work related function, the car is covered by the state insurance policy. Personal injuries are covered by Workers Compensation.  If you are being sued, North Dakota Risk Management would step in.
    • If you are driving your own car to a work related function, your personal insurance is liable for your injuries and your car repair. The state is not responsible when you drive your own vehicle.
    • A weekly or monthly calendar of county travel should be kept up to date and in the local office. All work-related travel should be accurately documented on the calendar.
    • Out of state travel authorization forms are required, and must be submitted at least ten working days prior to travel to the supervisor.  To access, go to NDSU Accounting Forms page at http://www.ndsu.edu/accounting/csforms/forms_departs.shtm. Scroll down to “Out of State Travel Authorization.”
