Does Row Spacing Influence Canola Yield in North Dakota?

Results from research investigating row spacing on canola yields indicate no effect on yield and seed oil content from increasing row width from 6 inches to 12 inches. Plots were established at Langdon and Prosper ND from 1999 to 2001. Four varieties including polish and argentine types were evaluated for several characters over five site years. Cultivars did not differ due to row width for duration of flowering, plant lodging, seed oil content or yield. Plant height did not differ for the argentine types as row width changed but the polish variety was shorter at the 6 inch spacing.
