Spring Gardening Meetings Attract Crowds

NDSU Extension Service's Gardening Saturdays can help you grow flowers like this.

White DaisiesAs the appetite for horticultural information grows, NDSU Extension Service horticulturists and agents have responded with spring gardening meetings, called Gardening Saturdays. The meetings, held on Saturdays throughout the state and region, have been a huge success. Last year, more than 3,500 gardeners attended meetings to learn new information and skills.

As many as 24 horticultural topics, such as square foot gardening, lawn care, tree selections, annual and perennial flower selections, and landscape design principles, are covered during the events. Participants also can get information from various vendor booths set up at each event.

Future meetings are scheduled for March 21 in Detroit Lakes, Minn., April 12 at the East Grand Forks(Minn.) High School and March 29 at 1 Oak Place in Fargo. To schedule a Gardening Saturday in your area, contact your local NDSU Extension Service office.
