- Provide primary leadership/management of FNP.
- Develop and manage state proposal for FNP funding (program piece).
- Facilitate communication and coordination among internal and external programs, agencies and organizations.
- Provide visibility of FNP to administration, the university, cooperating agencies and the public.
- Interpret and apply Federal policies.
- Identify and provide training, educational materials, and resources to local programs.
- Work with staff, supervisors and others in establishing program goals, setting job standards, assessing needs, identifying and reporting outcomes.
- Review program accomplishments and provide feedback to local sites, funding sources, extension, college, administration and others.

- Coordinate record keeping, reporting, proposal development and budget management.
- Develop and manage state proposal for FNP funding (budget piece).
- Facilitate communication and coordination within EFNEP/FNP.
- Identify and procure technology needs for staff.
- Interpret and apply Federal policies.
- Develop and present training and orientation programs for local staff.
- Provide assistance to staff and their supervisors in support of their educational efforts.
- Work with assistant director, district directors, state specialists and others on recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and other needs of program staff.
District Director
- Meet with the FNP State Staff to exchange observations related to
program content and delivery and relationship of FNP to the overall
county program
- Actively participate in arranging, implementing and carrying out recommendations from site reviews
- Have regular visits with the county chair and other staff at each site regarding FNP efforts at their respective site
- Serve as the supervisor for FNP Nutrition Education Agents and Assistants
- Conduct annual performance appraisals/responsibility reviews
- Review and address any issues related to reports, calendars, or general office work environment
- Recruit, hire and orient new FNP staff
FNP Extension Agents & Nutrition Education Assistant
- Schedule and conduct educational sessions on basic nutrition, food safety, food preparation and food purchasing for SNAP recipients and eligibles.
- Refer customers needing specialized individual nutrition or budget counseling to other resources.
- Follow up on agency referrals and recruit SNAP recipients to FNP activities.
- Maintain and submit accurate records and reports on or before designated deadlines.
- Conduct evaluation of participants' learning, behavioral changes and adoption of practices suggested in FNP programming.
- Promote the FNP with appropriate community agencies to identify SNAP recipients and eligibles to target program delivery.
- Participate in professional development opportunities including orientation, training sessions and Extension conferences.
Performance Appraisal / Responsibility Review
Performance evaluations are prepared by the FNP Supervisor on an annual basis and a copy sent to the state FNP office by January 10. Supervisors of Nutrition Education Assistants need to also send a copy to the NDSU Office of Human Resources. Nutrition Education Agents are required to submit an Impact Report as part of the review process.
