Gayle Gette, Extension/FNP Agent For release February 20, 2004 Towner County Learn by Doing For the seventh year, the Lake Region 4-H Project Day provided area 4-H members the opportunity to learn new skills under the direction of dozens of talented volunteers. Over 100 4-H members from eight counties; Benson, Cavalier, McHenry, Nelson, Pierce, Ramsey, Rolette and Towner participated in this year�s event. 4-H members were able to select four skill sessions workshops to participate in from a possible thirty-eight offered. The 4-H program has a long history of focusing on youth learning by providing age appropriate learning opportunities for active and interested youth. The opportunities for 4-H members at this year�s project day included: robotic technology, digital photography, woodworking, scrapbooking, foods and nutrition, taxidermy, painting and making your own ice fishing rig as well as many others. The Ramsey Council 4-H council hosted the event which was help in the WW Veterans� Memorial Building, Ramsey County Courthouse, and Armory in downtown Devils Lake. Attendees from Towner County included 4-Her�s from the Eager Beavers club, Cando; Handy-Thrifty Helpers club, Egeland; and Young Riders, Rocklake. -end- |
