4-H Council Meeting Minutes
September 22, 2005
5:00 pm
Extension Office
After a meal of sandwiches, soup and brownies, the meeting was called
to order.
Pledges were said. Secretary�s report was approved. Treasurer�s report
was approved.
Present were: Mary Mauch, Theresa Olson, Dale Siebert, Janna Fatland,
Gale Link, Karen Weber, Dennis Knudson, Colleen Svingen, Hank Weber, Joan
Beyer and Deb Evenson.
OLD BUSINESS:
The door of the 4-H Building was fixed by Dale, Dennis and Hank on
September 6.
An Achievement Days feedback form will be sent out with dates for next
year. It will go out to all 4-H families.
Theresa needs a list of counties who would like to send items to the
State Fair. Colleen will contact counties�Ransom, Sargent, Cass. How to
pack, where to bring them, what kind of boxes. Joan will check with Vo-Ag
at Wahpeton High School. UPS shipping was discussed also.
NEW BUSINESS:
Awards Night - Sharon Ritten and Karen Weber are working on it. Set for
October 16 at the LEC at 5:00 to go until 8:00. Encourage the kids to cook
for the potluck meal and do an illustrated talk about what they
made�potluck meal will be served. Wink �em will be the ice breaker. Recap
and awards presentation by Karen. Bingo will be played. Each club should
bring 2 prizes and each independent family bring 1. Make Powerpoint
presentation of pictures of the 4-H year.
Updates on Awards forms - Type in year
Due by September 5
Karen went through other corrections to forms. Motion seconded and
carried to make all the corrections to the awards forms as discussed.
Motion made to change the prize for Level 4 from a $50 savings bond to a $25 cash
award. Seconded and carried.
Motion made that on the completion of a Level 5 project the 4-H member
would receive a Wahpeton/Breckenridge merchant gift certificate worth $100
from an approved list of Wahpeton/Breckenridge merchants-- limited to one
per person.
National 4-H Week - Clubs can set up displays at some businesses around
town. PSA�s for the radio station were discussed. Colleen will check with
the radio station again regarding this.
4-H Fun Day - Set for November 19 at the Wyndmere School. Teens are
encouraged to teach a lesson.
Review of new 4-H literature - Colleen passed around the updated
literature that we received in the office. Could have some displayed at
Awards Night.
Giving of blue, red and white ribbons were discussed as being given out
at Achievement Days. Achievement Day committee will address this.
County Club - Colleen discussed the handout of the proposed goals for
the 2005-2006 Richland County Club. Motion is made to start the County
Club with all the corrections talked about tonight. Seconded and carried.
Committee sign-up was passed around.
Election of Officers -
Hank Weber nominated Dennis Knudson as President. Motion seconded and
carried to cease nominations and cast a unanimous ballot.
Dennis Knudson nominated Sharon Ritten for Vice President. Motion
seconded and carried to cease nominations and cast a unanimous ballot.
Dennis Knudson nominated Karen Weber for Secretary. Motion seconded and
carried to cease nominations and cast a unanimous ballot.
Mary Mauch was nominated for Treasurer. Motion seconded and carried to
cease nominations and cast a unanimous ballot.
Motion made to vote on two new directors�Joan and Julie�s terms will be
up next year. Seconded and carried.
Dennis Knudson nominated Theresa Olson for Director. Motion seconded
and carried to cease nominations and cast a unanimous ballot.
Joan Beyer nominated Darcy Heitkamp for Director. Motion seconded and
carried to cease nominations and cast a unanimous ballot.
Joan Beyer and Julie Wahler are directors for another year (will be
replaced next year).
