RICHLAND COUNTY 4-H LEADERS COUNCIL MEETING

OLD BUSINESS

Awards night November 4th at 6:00 p.m. potluck/bring 2 prizes per club
Friend of 4-H/Alumni -Linda/Harold Narum Neal Goerger 1st by Gale, 2nd by Karen
For future nominations look into Sharon Anderson-Alumni, Diane Falk on list to
receive these awards.
Project Day-November 17 need teacher for tin man-Hank Weber volunteered for this.
Achievement Days-Discussed/reviewed stats
Rummage Sale will be July 6th for set up, 7th, and 8th actual sale
NEW BUSINESS
Jr. Leaders- it was discussed teens having opportunities to do leadership and what it
means to each person. Gale suggested youth leaders to get together once a month to learn
leadership. The committee is to brainstorm some ideas for the next meeting. Sundays would be
out for Extension staff. Dale suggested getting a chat room set up from 8-9 p.m. to meet every
other month. Youth would be invited to meetings. Bobbi Jo offered to bring in speakers and pay
for them. This was tabled.
The office would like to offer a chance to do community service in the Extension office. Leave
your name and the office will contact you to set up the times that help will be needed. It will be
brought up at Awards night and put in the Green Gazette.
County Conversations group decision center is a great way to gather data. It will be the 1st week
in December and announced at Awards Night. Youth and adults will get the opportunity to
attend.
Suggestion to change dairy exhibit ages to
1-8 month old calves
9-24 month unbred heifers
9-24 month bred heifer

Motion made to accept the above classes for dairy Karen Weber, 2nd Hank Weber
2 delegates needed for the ND state Fair Board Meeting-there were no volunteers. It was felt this
was not very beneficial to travel to as they do not really accept input for change.
Achievement Days Date: August 8 (static), August 9 (livestock) due to wedding.
Need to check on what date Natural Resource Camp campers get back as it might be difficult for
them to participate in Achievement Days if they come back the day before. It was decided to
wait and see if this would be a problem, then deal with it from there.
Handbook dates review/Host List for 2001-2002
Showcase discussion regarding where else we could set up our showcase so that others may see
the showcases and promote 4-H, and being involved with showcase.

New Guidelines for becoming a ND Horse Show Judge, New Rulebook for Horse
Camp Numbers were 42.
Awards Form-there will be a meeting set to go over the Awards Form. There is suggested
changes being proposed to the Awards Form. The meeting was set for November 5, 2001 at 5:30
at the Extension office. Pizza and pop will be served. Karen made motion to provide pizza/pop,
Gale Link 2nd.
