MINUTES OF COUNCIL MEETING
JANUARY 12, 2004
7:30 PM
Meeting called to order by President Matt Danuser. Pledges were said.
Introductions were made of visitors present. Connie Jensen, Healthy
Communities/Healthy Youth; Michelle Fehr, St. John�s Church; Kathy Davis,
St. John�s Church; Karen Platt, Wilkin County 4-H; Nicole Freese and Beth
Leinen, Wilkin County 4-H Ambassadors; and Jacqueline Dotzenrod, ND State
4-H Ambassador. Also present were Joan Beyer, Karen Weber, Colleen Svingen,
Dale Siebert, and Deb Evenson.
Wilkin County 4-H had held a "Lock-in" for youth in grades 6 - 8 at the
school last February from 7:00 pm to midnight. Beth Leinen and Nicole
Freese, Wilkin County 4-H Ambassadors, were in charge of the entertainment
for the evening. Communication, problem solving, teamwork and values were
the four areas targeted as the purpose for the "Lock-in". $5.00/person was
charged for pizza and pop, door prizes, parent involvement group made
popcorn and t-shirts were donated.
St. John�s School is looking for help with a lock-in from Wilkin County
and Richland County 4-H, either ambassadors or older 4-H members. Wilkin
County Ambassadors can train some Richland County 4-H teens. Youth groups
from churches, student councils, and other organizations could be
involved.
Karen will talk to Michelle from St. John�s to have them set a date and
see if any Richland County 4-H teen leaders could help out with it, with
Wilkin County 4-H Ambassadors being in charge. Tabled until the next
meeting.
Secretary�s report was read and approved. Read a thank you from Sharon
Anderson for the Alumni Achievement Award.
OLD BUSINESS:
Metal used the 4-H building sign was donated by Gutzmer�s Supply,
Lidgerwood, and RDO Equipment donated paint for the sign.
Regarding the Fall Appreciation Picnic�maybe have during Achievement
Days in Hankinson and invite the sponsors to come and view exhibits. Could
be held after public viewing time - 6:00 pm. - and serve hotdogs and
hamburgers.
Awards Night was discussed..
Motion was made and seconded to have an Awards Night with Pizza, Bingo and
Homemade Ice Cream and free-will offering on October 31, 2004.
NEW BUSINESS:
Achievement Days was tentatively set for July 16 and 17, 2004, at
Hankinson. The Achievement Days Committee will have to discuss it. Matt
will talk to the Hankinson people and Karen Weber will talk to Sister
Susan Marie about the dates.
New dress code is now in place. Pins are no longer acceptable to attach
the 4-H emblem-- velcro or adhesive spray.
Rummage Sale - looking for a date, possibly the last weekend of April.
It was motioned, seconded and
carried to table the Rummage Sale until next meeting.
What about clubs who don�t do any fund raisers? No decision was made.
Cass County proposed to have Richland County join them for Consumer
Choices and Communication Arts Contest. There would be the same judges,
but each county would be judged separately. This year it was decided to do
our contests the same as before.

Rummage Sale ????
Ag Trip, January 17, 2004 - 30 people are signed up so far.
Family Fun and Fitness Day, January 18, 2004 - hall monitors and
registration help is needed. It was mentioned that a fitness day could be
held in the summer, as well as in the winter.
It was motioned, seconded and
carried to cast a unanimous ballot for all officers and 1 director.
