Richland County 4-H Leaders Council Meeting
April 15, 2002


Present: Joan Beyer, Tammy Miller, Karen Weber, Mary Mauch, Dale Siebert, Gale Link, Colleen Svingen

Secretary’s report

Corrections:
     Joan did not volunteer to be on the radio. She suggested someone should go to promote the rummage sale. Prices on clothing should be $.50 with other items adjusted accordingly.

     The dates of Achievement Days is August 8 and 9.

Treasurer’s report - Dale

OLD BUSINESS

     Awards forms - Committee report: The revised form is a compilation of Cass and Lamoure Counties. The revised form was reviewed. Tammy moved to accept the revised award form. Seconded by Gale. Motion Carried.

 

     Rummage Sale: June 6, 7, 8 at the Armory. We will need more racks. Gale will check with her neighbor. Set up and dropping off of items from 6 - 9 pm at the Armory. Donations are welcome from the community. Items need to be clean. Each family is asked to bring 2 dozen bars wrapped. The bag sale begins at noon the second day (Saturday). Dale will check with Deb to see if there are listing of categories on the computer for the tables. Joan will call to see if someone can come and pick up the leftovers.

 �     Raffle: Lots of tickets still at the office.

 •     Youth Representation on 4-H Council: A form to do this is to be made by Matt Danuser.

 •     Consumer Choices: Thank you to everyone that helped!

 •     Freedom to Soar: Volunteers are needed for that day. Sun safety booth, calcium booth, hand washing booth, petting zoo will also be needing volunteers. April 28th beginning at 1:00 p.m.

 •     Sweatshirts: To be given away at Awards Night. They are leftover from a few years ago.

 •     Pens: Gel pens ordered for leaders for Volunteer Week.

 •     Patterns: Are in if anyone needs to order them.

 •     Signs at the zoo: If the council gets a clover, Kathy at the zoo would coordinate “Animal Facts” plaques to be made from them. This area was refurbished with the assistance of the Richland County 4-H Youth (also noted).

NEW BUSINESS

Youth Conference - Adult volunteers needed from June 17-20.

“Thank you” was read from Jacqueline and Christie Dotzenrod for the opportunity to attend the Youth Conference.

District 7 Cattle Women: award available to youth that have done an outstanding job in the beef area. We need to let them know if we would like one. We can use it for next year’s award form.

4-H Banner: donated from Best Buy.

4-H Outdoor Skills/Shooting Sports Hillsboro Training: To be held the end of April for adults to certify for shooting skills.

Candice Allar will be taking Amy Fugalstad’s place in the State 4-H Office.

Committee for Richland/Wilkin Project Day - it is Richland County’s turn to chair. Volunteers are welcome.

United Way Report: volunteers needed.

Red River Valley Fair: Deadline for exhibit registration is May 17, 2002. Volunteers are needed to help as judges’ assistants for June 12 and cleanup on June 23 from 6-9 pm.

Achievement Days: August 8-9, 2002.

Tech Day: July 12, Friday at Hughes Shelter, GPS Training and computer mysteries. Registration required for 30 participants.

Health Rocks: Presented at Mantador on April 13 and Exploration Day at Middle School on April 22.

Communication Arts will be held on May 28.

Showcase is July 1.

Gale moved to get Lesa a gift certificate and pay for her food at a get together to be held this summer. Seconded by Karen. Look into doing it at Paula’s. Joan will get in contact with Lesa to set a date.
