2008 Corn & Soybean Plot Information

The Ransom County Dryland Corn Plot was planted on May 14 and is located on the west side of 141 Ave (Milnor road) and is one-half mile south of 75th St SE.  There is no irrigated corn plot in 2008.

The Soybean Plot was planted on May 19 and is located on the north side of Hwy 27 and is one-half mile west of 139th Ave SE.

The Ransom County Crop & Livestock Improvement Association met on Thursday, June 12 and it was decided that there will not be a plot tour held this summer due to low attendance of producers in the past.  However, the association is planning to put on a Corn Production Meeting on Tuesday, December 9 at the Ransom County Expo Center in Lisbon. More information will be available soon.

Corn & Soybean Plot Agreements
Early Deadline: February 6, 2009

RCCLIA has signed on with Frontier Crop Testing (FCT) to take care of our county plots in 2009.  By hiring FCT to do the plots, the plots will be done more professionally and producers and companies will receive much more information from the plots than  previously received.  Also, with FCT doing all of the planting and harvesting this will assure the plots will be done in a timely manner.

Click to view  an informational sheet from FCT that outlines the services that they will be providing along with the information they will collect and put into a report to be distributed after harvest is complete.  Each plot will consist of four reps that will be 40 feet long.  The first replication will have each variety entered in order as the show plot.  The three additional reps will be where data is collected and varieties will be randomized by replication.

The 2009 plots will consist of glyphosate tolerant dryland corn plot, and a Round-Up Ready dryland soybean plot.  Companies are allowed to enter up to two varieties in each of the plots.  For more details on the plots download the Plot Agreement Forms below.

The entry fee is $275 per variety and must be received prior to February 6.  Entries received after February 6 will be charged $325 entry fee per variety.  No entries will be accepted after March 6.   Each plot is limited to 31 varieties.   Plots will not be accepted until payment has been received.

Seed can be dropped off at the residence of Ryan Lyons,
7173 128 Ave SE, Lisbon ND 58054.   Cell: (701) 308-0320

Corn varieties need to be delivered by March 20, and you need to provide a 20,000 kernel or more count bag for each variety entered.  Soybean varieties need to be delivered by March 20 and you will need to provide a 50 pound unit of seed for each variety entered.  Please clearly mark which plot the seed is intended for on the bags.
