CNP Doppler Ultrasound Workshop
On June 9, 2010, the Center for Nutrition and Pregnancy hosted a Doppler Ultrasound Workshop at the Animal Nutrition and Physiology Center. Matt Utt, a current PhD student with Dr. Mike Day at the Ohio State University instructed several people from NDSU, USDA-ARS Miles City, MT, and Mississippi State University on his experiences with Doppler ultrasonography. The morning was a lecture and discussion time with proper techniques of Doppler and blood flow to the reproductive tract. After a wonderful lunch by Carnivore Catering, the afternoon was filled with hands-on learning using the Aloka 3500 Doppler ultrasound in pregnant and non-pregnant cattle from the NDSU Dairy and Beef Research Units. Matt was a former student of Dr. O.J. Ginther at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and helped with the original work using Doppler ultrasonography for research in ponies and cattle. Visitors included Dr. Tom Geary and Crystal Roberts from USDA-ARS Miles City, MT, and Dr. Jamie Larson and Joe Binversie from Mississippi State University. NDSU participates were Kim Vonnahme, Caleb Lemley, Ann a Grazul-Bilska, Tammi Neville, Jim Kirsch, Leslie Lekatz, Ely Camacho, Allison Meyer, Rachel Mottet, Chelsey Saevre, Christen Jackson, Phil Steichen, and Craig Zimprich.
Financial support of the workshop was provided by NDSU EPSCOR.
