What Will I Do as an Extension Specialist?

Area and state Extension specialists develop educational programming based on North Dakotans' needs. They may deliver the education themselves or train Extension agents to deliver it. They write publications, Web pages, news releases, curriculum and other information for target audiences.

Specialists focus on specific subject matter. They work with NDSU researchers, faculty at other universities, professionals in public and private organizations, and others to keep up on the latest information and develop partnerships.

Extension specialists evaluate educational programming and report the results.

"Since I grew up on a ranch, the interactions I have with people involved in the beef cattle industry are very rewarding and enjoyable. It allows me to use my talents and abilities to help people solve real-world problems. Each day is different, with a different set of challenges and opportunities, and a different set of questions to help people solve."
