Printing Web Pages

            Ever have trouble printing information from online? Does part of the page cut off? Do you get 67 pages when you only wanted one? 

Some web pages are designed for printing, most are not. Here is something thing you can try. 

Use”Print Preview” Most web browsers have a print preview option. Sometimes it is a button on your toolbar at the top of the window. Usually you will have to click on “file” in the upper left corner. If you do not see “print preview” in the drop down box look for a double down arrow at the bottom of drop down box and click on it to see the full drop down menu.  

Once you have the “print preview” window open, see if it looks ok. Check the number of pages at the bottom. If everything looks ok, go ahead and click on the print button in the upper left corner.  If the right side of the page is cropped off try changing the layout to landscape instead of portrait by clicking on the button at the upper left which shows a page of paper laying on it’s side. If it is still cropping some of the page you could try the “Shrink to Fit” button.   

Too many pages? Close the print preview window and go to “file”, then “print”. This should open your printer dialog box. Just clicking on the printer button in the toolbar often just sends the print command to the default printer with the standard settings and doesn’t allow you to make adjustments. With the printer dialog box open you can click on the “pages” button and select a single page or range of pages. Another option is to highlight a page or part of a page prior to clicking on “file”, then “print”. The printer dialog box will then contain an option to print only the selection.

New Houseplant Bulletin

I just received a copy of a bulletin titled Houseplants: Proper Care and Management of Pest Problems. The bulletin has basic information on potting, watering, and feeding of houseplants along with a trouble shooting guide for problems. Photos of common insect problems and solutions for dealing with insects and diseases. I have ordered a supply for the office.
