Project Safe Send

The North Dakota Department of Agriculture is planning 12 Project Safe Send locations for July 2011. This program is intended for anyone who has banned or unusable pesticides to safely and legally dispose of them free of charge. This includes weed and insect sprays, rodent poisons, and fumigants.

Check your basements, garages and other buildings. If you have deteriorating containers they should be packed in larger containers with absorbent material like cat litter or floor dry. Free heavy duty plastic bags are available from the ND Dept of Ag.

If you have quantities of 1,000 pounds or more you should preregister them with the Dept. of Ag.

To preregister large quantities, request heavy-duty plastic bags, or if you have additional questions about Project Safe Send, contact Jessica Johnson at the North Dakota Department of Agriculture at 1-800-242-7535 or jnjohnson@nd.gov

The tentative schedule includes Stanley on July 7th and Williston on July 8th.
