Crop Outlook and Marketing Workshop

The Burke County Ag Improvement Association is sponsoring a Crop Outlook and Marketing Workshop Thursday, March 17th at the Lignite Community Center starting at 10:00 am.

NDSU Crop Marketing Specialist Frayne Olson will discuss the supply, demand, use and price outlooks for the many crops grown in Burke County. Lance Kalmbach, marketer and broker with SunPrairie Grain will take a look at the local basis and discuss the various types of contracts and marketing opportunities available through their local office.

With the wide variety of crops produced in the area marketing plans and decisions of when to market which crops and how much of those crops to market at different times and through different methods can be a real challenge. Olson will finish up the day with a look at marketing plans and provide producers a spreadsheet he has developed to help producers gain a clearer picture of what can be a muddy marketing process.
