The mission of the Animal Sciences department is to conduct research, education and extension to improve the efficiency and profitability of livestock agriculture and to improve management and conservation of rangeland resources.

The department is committed to effective and timely transfer of research-generated knowledge an technology to the agricultural industry and the larger scientific and public sectors to benefit the state, the nation and the world.
