Faculty
The Equine Studies faculty provide students with a diverse and strong knowledge base.

Dr. Carrie Hammer
Dr. Carolyn (Carrie) Hammer (DVM, PhD) is an Assistant Professor in the Equine Studies Program. She graduated from Iowa State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Animal Physiology. Dr. Hammer's primary responsibilities include overseeing the Equine Studies program and teaching the junior and senior level equine classes.

Dr. Erika Berg
Dr. Erika Berg (MS, PhD) is an Assistant Professor in the Equine Studies Program. Dr. Berg teaches courses about therapeutic riding and equine physiology. She also coaches the Intercollegiate Hunt Seat Team.

Tara Swanson
Tara Swanson is a lecturer for the Equine Studies program. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska. Tara also serves as coach of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association team.

Tate Eck
Tate Eck is a lecturer for the Equine Studies program. He is a graduate of NDSU and was employed as a high school ag teacher and farrier prior to joining the faculty at NDSU. Tate also serves as coach of the NDSU Rodeo Team.

Shannon Eck
Shannon Eck is the NDSU Equine Center Manager and coach of the NDSU Intercollegiate Horse Judging Team.
