Setting Up a New Installation of Pegasus Mail

Installing Pegasus Mail | Configuring a Current Installation of Pegasus

Once Pegasus Mail has been installed, we now need to configure it in order to send and receive e-mail.

First, when starting pegasus you may be asked for your username, enter it if you have one.

Once done, you will see the screen on your right. Press 'Next' to begin the configuration process.

Pegasus mail internet setup

The first thing Pegasus asks you for is your e-mail address. Type your full address in the white box and press 'Next' to continue.

entering the user's e-mail address

Now you will be asked for the address of your POP3 server. This is the computer that contains e-mail sent to you.

For NDSUEXT users type in the following:

ndsuext.nodak.edu

When finished, press 'Next' to continue

entering the POP3 server address

The next screen you will see will be prompting you for your e-mail account username and password. Don't confuse this with your pegasus username as they may not be the same.

For NDSUEXT your username will be everything before the '@' symbol in your e-mail address.

For example jdoe@ndsuext.nodak.edu would be jdoe.

The password is your ndsuext e-mail password.

If you are unsure as to your username and/or password, please contact the ACCS helpdesk (231-8660) for assistance.

Once finished, click 'Next' to continue.

ndsuext.nodak.edu

Once finished, click 'Next' to continue.

Now you will be asked how you connect to the internet. Regardless of whether you have high-speed internet or dial-up, be sure to select 'Network'.

Even if you use dial-up internet, you will still be able to use Pegasus Mail once you have connected.

Once finished, click 'Next' to continue.
