McAfee 7.1 AutoUpdate Resolution

Recently we have received reports that after installing the new Windows XP service pack 2, the McAfee 7.1 autoupdate service does not work correctly anymore.

If you are experiencing this problem, the following steps should assist you in fixing the problem:

1. Open the Control Panel
2. Go to Administrative Tools and open Component Services
3. Expand the Component Services branch, then Computers, then My Computer, then DCOM Config
4. Right-Click on FrameworkService and select Properties
5. Click on the Security tab. Under "Launch and Activation Permissions" select "Use Default" and click OK
6. Close the Component Services window and the Control Panel.
