To scan your computer using McAfee 7.1 or 8.0i, first right click on the VShield in your system tray (an icon with a red "V" next to the clock). You will see the menu to the right. Select VirusScan Console.

Your computer should now display a console window similar to this one. To start the scan, either locate an option called "Scan C:" or "Scan All Fixed Disks" as in the image to the right.

Once you have started the scan, you should see a screen similar to this one. Once the scan has started, please allow time for it to finish. A typical scan can take anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours depending on how much data you have on your computer.
