The Department is committed to education of undergraduate and graduate students by providing both specialized knowledge and educational breadth as well as hands-on experience in animal agriculture, equine studies, veterinary technology and supporting disciplines.

The Department of Animal Sciences has a long history of educating young people with an interest in animal agriculture. Graduates hold influential positions with many different livestock organizations, agricultural companies, in the academic world and in the government. A strong grounding in animal production, the sciences and leadership is central to our educational approach.

Students also have the opportunity to participate in many different student activities to enhance their learning, develop social networks and improve their leadership skills. The faculty and staff of the department is diverse, highly professional and committed to the well-being of students.
