About the site
Welcome to the FlaxPage!
Our site is a resource for information
about the oilseed and fiber crop flax (Linum usitatissimum
L), sometimes called common flax.
The FlaxPage aims to provide information for the grower, for
the consumer, and for the researcher.
You will find a breadth of information about this fascinating
crop: its origin, history, botany, agronomy, economics &
trade, and utilization as a human food, as livestock and poultry
feed, as an ingredient in paints and coatings, and as a fiber
source in the textile and paper industries.
The site is being developed and maintained
by North Dakota State University Libraries, with support from
North Dakota State University Department of Plant Sciences, North
Dakota State University Extension, the Flax Institute of the
United States, and USDA's National Agricultural Library. The
FlaxPage is part of AgNIC—the Agricultural
Network Information Center.
If you have questions not covered by this site, please click
on the Ask Questions button; either a librarian or one of our
flax experts will reply.
