The site includes Bison Card authentication, Interlibrary Loan, online electronic journals, statistical resources, search engines and more.

Bison Card Instructions for Off-campus Staff

Here's how off-campus staff can get their Bison Cards if they didn't at fall conference:

* If you've had a digital photo shot on campus for your card, mail in your old ID card and your new Bison Card will be mailed to you. If you have never had an NDSU card or absolutely can't find your old one, Extension administration will pay for Extension staff Bison Cards. Experiment Station staff must include a fund number for payment.

* If you haven't had a digital photo shot on campus for your Bison Card, e-mail a jpeg. Also mail in your old card. If you don't have a card to exchange, again inform the staff if Extension or another fund will pay for your new card.

NDSU Agriculture and University Extension staff thank Wendy Clarin, NDSU Support Services Manager, for her cooperation in getting Bison Cards to off- campus staff during the fall conference and through this process. Old cards should be mailed to and jpegs should be e-mailed to (along with a complete address for mailing your new card back to you and and explanation of how the card will be paid for, if necessary) to:

Write the Right Word

Here are a few reminders:

Persons/people When referring to more than one person, the correct term is people. The tornado killed 30 people. The word person is acceptable when talking about an individual. One person applied for the job. Also, people is a collective noun that takes a plural verb when used in the sense of a single race or nation. The American people were shocked by the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Brand names Use brand names only when essential because they are a service mark or trademark. Service marks are legally protected symbols, words, etc., that suppliers of a service use to identify themselves. Trademarks are legally protected symbols, words, etc., that a manufacturer or dealer uses as an identifier. Use a generic if at all possible because we dont want to appear to be endorsing a particular brand. For example, use in-line skates instead of Rollerblades, vegetable shortening instead of Crisco, slow cooker instead of Crockpot, facial tissue instead of Kleenex and cat box filler instead of Kitty Litter. If you must use a brand name, capitalize it.

a.m./p.m. They are lowercase, with periods after each letter. The meeting will start at 10:30 a.m.

Time You don't need to add zeros when the time is on the hour. The lecture will begin at 2 p.m. (not 2:00 p.m.)

Area codes Put them in parentheses when used with a phone number. For more information, contact J.W. Schroeder at (701) 231-7663.

Computer Recycling

Thank you to all of the county and REC office staff who brought in old computers during fall conference. We now have a system in place to recycle old machines. This is a start for responsible machine disposal. If you have an old computer and someone is coming to Fargo on business, drop it off at IACC 236. Remember to take the property number off of the office inventory.
