____ You (with your current adviser's assistance) should send your name and
area of interest to:

Office of the Dean

To best assure a smooth transition, you should complete the application for admission prior to the end of the first semester of your freshman year, indicating the expected semester of transfer.

____ Apply for admission to NDSU; application will require a $35 nonrefundable application fee, official copy of your college transcripts and other requested documents (such as vaccination records and high school transcript; you may want to inquire at your current institution about its willingness and ability to forward some of these records to NDSU).

  • Indicate on the top of the application form that you are participating in the dual-admission agriculture program of the NDUS.
  • Send the application to the to NDSU Office of Admission; and again inform the office of the Dean of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources of your interest in transferring.

____ Send a copy of your college transcript to the department of interest for preliminary evaluation (photocopy of transcript is fine for this purpose); alternatively, you can send this copy to the office of the Dean of Agriculture, Food Systems, and Natural Resources, which then will send it to the department of your area of interest.

The department is expected to:

  • Assign an adviser and provide the adviser's name, address and phone/related numbers to you via your current adviser
  • Provide scholarship information for transfer students

NDSU is expected to:

  • Review your college transcript and send preliminary evaluation to you
  • Send curriculum guide for NDSU major to you and indicate which courses are met with transfer credits
  • Review your application to assure that you have at least a 2.00 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) in transfer courses, do not have an unlifted suspension from another institution during the past year, and have no outstanding debts at another institution
  • Send an NAID number (student identification number) to you
  • Provide the Web site address for the registration schedule for the semester of intended transfer

Depending on when you indicate your interest in transferring, you should request and receive:

  • Guidance from an NDSU adviser in selecting courses for subsequent terms at your current institution
  • General information about the College of Agriculture and NDSU
    • (e.g., an introductory IVN session during fall semester will be an opportunity for students to ask questions and request information about programs and the transfer process)
  • advice from an NDSU adviser in selecting NDSU courses to register for
    • (e.g., an IVN advising session offers an opportunity for students to discuss the program of study with an NDSU adviser)

____ You can expect to register for NDSU courses (using ALFI) according to the assigned time found in the registration schedule.

____ Upon completion of your last term at your current institution, request that an official copy of your transcript be sent to NDSU.

An NDSU adviser should be ready to provide information about careers,
summer employment, etc.

Participating schools are equal opportunity institutions.
This information will be made available in alternative formats to people with disabilities upon request to (701) 231-8790.
