Ag CMS Work Area

Learn the different pieces of the Ag CMS work area.

Now that you're logged in, let's introduce you to the different pieces of an Ag CMS website. Below is a screenshot with explanations of what each area is for.

 Framed Screenshot

1. Header: This area is controlled by the Ag CMS template. The only area that can be customized is the header graphic which consists of the web site title ("Agriculture and University Extension" in the example above) and the header photos. You can choose your own combination of header photos when you request your Ag CMS site.

2 & 3. Portlet Areas:
The left and right columns in an Ag CMS are referred to as "portlet areas." A portlet is a box or region on either the left or right side of an Ag CMS website. On this site there is a Navigation portlet on the left and a Calendar portlet on the right. Portlets can contain static (unchanging) or dynamic information depending on what the portlet is programmed t

o do.

4. Item Tabs:

These tabs control tasks for an individual item. The example above shows the item tabs for a folder. They allow you to look at the contents of the folder, view the folder, edit the folder, set rules for the folder and share the folder with other users.

5. Task Bar:

The task bar gives you further control over an individual item, including changing the display settings and the item state. It also allows you to add additional items.

6. Content Area:

This is where you will enter and edit content in a page item.
