NDSU Extension Flood Information

Sand and sandbags are available for everyone NOW and at no charge.  Bring a shovel and make what you need.  The sand pile is located behind the courthouse.  Sandbag policy:  take only what you currently need and come back if you need extras. To obtain sandbags, contact the County Courthouse at 254-4811 or City Hall at 254- 4267.  We encourage you to reach relatives and friends in order to have them on standby to help you sandbag your homes or businesses.

In case of an emergency sandbag effort, we will meet behind the courthouse and ask that you bring shovels and wear appropriate weather gear.  Bring a pickup if you are coming to load your own sandbags.  Again, we are encouraging you to preplan by reaching out to relatives and friends to assist transporting sandbags to your home and aiding in your personal sandbagging effort.

Creek gauge readings and flood outlooks:  NWS  http://www.crh.noaa.gov/bis/  and USGS http://nd.water.usgs.gov/floodtracking/charts/06354580_10130104.html   Ice jams can and do change the outlook—remain vigilant.  Call the county if you need help finding resources or have exhausted all your means.
